Expressing his excitement and frustration, Tyler Perry shared, “I’m feeling a bit irritated by the length of time this project has consumed. It’s dragging on, to the point where I’ve completed four movies since our initial discussions.” He added, “While working alongside Disney, a magnificent corporation, I am eager to prioritize this film, and Whoopi shares the same sentiment.”
Perry is slated to helm the production, with Goldberg returning to her iconic role as Dolores Van Cartier/Sister Mary Clarence. Whoopi Goldberg has expressed interest in casting Keke Palmer, Lizzo, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and others, no further cast members have been officially announced
Goldberg assured in a 2022 interview with Entertainment Tonight, “It’s in progress. We just need to commence filming, but it’s definitely on the horizon.” She elaborated, “Perfecting a script is an ongoing process because sometimes the words on paper don’t translate seamlessly when spoken. Flexibility is crucial. However, I remain optimistic that audiences will be satisfied.”
Initially unveiled in 2020 as a Disney+ feature, “Sister Act 3” is poised to continue the beloved franchise, following the success of “Sister Act” (1992) and its sequel “Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit” (1993).
